Your Donation helps bring authentic language & culture programming to our community!

Originally Friends of World Language, the organization was co-founded in 2012 by long-time Bozeman community members Elizabeth Williamson, Abigail Breuer, & Kate Wright. As parents with young children, the founders searched for ways to increase K-5 access to second language & culture education. Within the next year, they developed a full-fledged, after-school k-5 World Language & Cultural Program. With support from Montana Schools, District Administrators & PACs, the United Way, and Gallatin Valley community members, the organization became known as The World Language Initiative - MT. The program continues to flourish, offering in and after school Language and Culture classes for K-5 students at 11 Bozeman Area Schools, a K-8 Summer Language Immersion Camp in partnership with The City of Bozeman, as well as evening Adult Language Classes at The Emerson Cultural Center. In 2020, WLI-MT delivered authentic language and culture programs to over 1,000 Bozeman Area elementary and middle school-aged students and 100 adults. We look forward to many years of strengthening our programs and having a positive impact on the development of our community into proficient 2nd language speakers & 21st century global citizens.
