Support ESL students through World Language Initiative-MT's BELLA Program

I am Paola Torres and I am the Lead of the WLI-MT BELLA (Bozeman English Learner Literacy Alliance) Program. At WLI- MT we seek to share our passion and love for languages and diversity with all language learners. This year we are proud to launch the BELLA Program. BELLA assists young ESL (English as a Second Language) learners in the Bozeman School District by hosting an English language summer camp. BELLA's goal is to work with students on building their confidence and comfort level, making newcomer youth feel welcome in our city. BELLA builds positive relationships with people in the community as well as creates a strong support system for these students.

While we have made some great progress, BELLA still has a lot to accomplish. We need your support to make sure these students enjoy a successful summer camp and feel welcome in our community. Imagine how overwhelming and alienating it is to be educated in an unfamiliar language and culture. Most of these students feel disconnected from the school community which affects learning and has a long-term impact on their future.
